In less than 8 weeks, three budding NZF champions will be venturing out onto the open road to undertake their biggest fundraising challenge yet! On Wednesday 22nd April 2015, Sameer Mallick, Khalid Rafiq and Mahboob Hussain will set off to cycle from London to Paris over the course of four days and cover a grueling distance of almost 500km come rain or shine!
The three champions have been following a tough training schedule throughout the winter months in preparation for the big event. Lazy Sunday mornings have been sacrificed for cycling practice, and the carbs have been curbed, all for a great cause. Alhamdulilah there has been a great response so far to their fundraising efforts, and has no doubt been a motivating factor to keep them focused.
The London to Paris bike ride will be a challenge of patience, endurance and positive team spirit as Sameer, Khalid and Mahboob cycle together for four continuous days. The itinerary for the challenge is as follows:
Day 1: London to Calais
Set off bright and early from Crystal Palace to Dover to cross the English Channel via ferry.
Day 2: Calais to Abbeville
Bienvenue la belle France! Cyclists will start pedalling in Calais and head South.
Day 3: Abbeville to Beauvais
Cycling along the River Somme out of Abbeville.
Day 4: Beauvais to Paris
Final day of cycling and the big push to the finish line in Paris.
Day 5: Paris to London
Return home on the Eurostar arriving at St Pancras International.
