What’s Involved?

To appreciate what life is really like for our brothers and sisters in the UK who are homeless this winter, we are holding our first ever #RoughSleep on Saturday 17th January 2015.
UKIM West London Islamic Centre & Jamia Masjid will host the event from Isha prayer until Fajr prayer, and participants (brothers only) will be invited to create makeshift beds in the masjid car park from 8pm on Saturday 17th January 2015 to 6am on Sunday 18th January 2015. Toilet and prayer facilities will be available inside the masjid and the grounds will also be guarded for your safety and security.

Why should I participate?

Demand for our services doubles in winter and we have already experienced a surge in emergency Zakat applications. With your help we hope to raise greater awareness about homelessness within the UK Muslim community, and generate additional funds to support individuals and families at risk.

What do I need to do?

To get involved as a team or an individual, please read the following eligibility criteria and register your interest:

– I am male and 18+ years
– I have been given written consent to participate by my GP (if over 60 years or if you have a chronic health condition)
– I agree to pay the £5 registration fee (non-refundable)
– I pledge to raise a further £200 by 1st February 2015 (per individual participant)
You will receive instructions about setting up a dedicated fundraising page on our website, and information about what you need to bring on the night once you have registered.

Please be aware that registration will close as soon as places are filled.

We would like to thank UKIM West London Islamic Centre & Jamia Masjid for facilitating this event, as well as 1625 Independent People and Centrepoint for guidance with the event planning.
