Aliya and Abdullah hadn’t been married long when they arrived in the UK with dreams of starting a new life away from the troubles of their war-ravaged country.
However, soon after they arrived, Aliya suffered a miscarriage late into her pregnancy which left her health in a vulnerable state. To add to their problems, her husband Abdullah wasn’t able to work due to his status as an asylum seeker. They received a small amount of money from the Home Office every week, but this wasn’t enough to meet their basic living needs. With no friends and family to turn to for help, they found themselves in a desperate situation..
Abdullah eventually found out about NZF from his local mosque and immediately contacted us for help. He received a grant from the Hardship Relief Fund which enabled him to buy clothing and other living essentials for himself and his wife. Although their future is still uncertain, your Zakat has relieved some of their immediate hardships and given them hope whilst awaiting the outcome of their asylum application.
