When Azim was in hospital recovering from surgery, it put a huge strain on his family – both mentally and financially. With mounting debts and his wife unable to work, they had no idea how they would feed their two children and keep the roof over their heads. But your Zakat was here to help.
Azim and his wife Roshina had always worked hard to provide for their family. Between them, they earned just enough to cover their living expenses.
However, when Azim became unwell and needed surgery, his inability to work stretched the family’s finances to the brink. His wife was also unable to work as her visa had expired, which meant they had no income to pay the rent or put food on the table. Moreover, repayments for other debts the couple had were no longer possible, building further financial pressure on them.
Roshina approached her local mosque for support, but they were unable to help her as they didn’t have sufficient funds in place. However, they signposted her to NZF where she made an application for support which was successful. The Housing Fund helped to clear the family’s rental arrears which was a huge relief and gave them some breathing space whilst her husband was recovering from his surgery.
Since receiving support, the family is in a much better place and with Azim’s recovery going well, the couple are feeling more hopeful about the future.
