What is the Community Zakat Programme?
The Community Zakat Programme (CZP) enables NZF to work with grassroots organisations such as mosques, charities, and community centres.
With their deep local ties and experience, these organisations will serve as partners in delivering Zakat directly to Muslims in need.
By decentralising the process, we aim to:
- Provide immediate financial relief to those experiencing hardship
- Strengthen the sense of belonging within local Muslim communities
- Encourage recipients to engage with wider community services for holistic support
- Simplify the process for individuals who find online applications challenging
This approach offers a dignified, personal assessment of Zakat eligibility, replacing document-heavy online processes with compassionate, face-to-face interactions.
How does it work?
A Muslim in financial hardship approaches their local grassroots organisation for help.
The organisation conducts a brief assessment to determine Zakat eligibility.
If eligible, a Zakat grant is approved and distributed directly by the organisation or arranged as a Post Office payment by NZF.
