Q: Is the year used for all Zakatable assets?
A: A year is not used for all Zakatable assets. It is only considered for gold, silver, cash, investments and business are subject to a year passing before Zakat becomes obligatory. However, agricultural products is not subject to the passing of a lunar year. Zakat will be due on agricultural produce and crops upon harvesting regardless of the number of times during the year.
