London shelter opens | BBC coverage
National Zakat Foundation (NZF) is pleased to announce that the doors to its new London shelter are open alhamdulillah. This specialist housing service for Muslim women in need has been delivered in partnership with leading homelessness charity St Mungo’s with funding from the National Zakat Foundation. The service, based in South London, can accommodate up to 14 women who find themselves homeless or requiring emergency accommodation and support.
The collaboration between NZF and St Mungo’s ensures that the strengths of both charities come together to create a safe haven for women in their hour of need.

Take a look around
Although the building is now fully refurbished, this video (shot in June) gives you an idea of the nature of the project.
Why now?
57% of applications received by National Zakat Foundation relate to homelessness and the majority of our applicants are women. Iqbal Nasim, NZF’s Project Manager commented, “Our experience of working with vulnerable Muslim women tells us that faith-sensitive supported housing would have a substantial impact on their path to recovery and self-sufficiency.”
DO YOU KNOW ANYONE STRUGGLING TO MAKE ENDS MEET?
