In the news
We have had fantastic support from the community and press as well. Please read the recent BBC article which shares the real story of a sister who witnessed it all: drugs, alcohol, abuse and prostitution.
By early 2013, the National Zakat Foundation aims to have launched two similar projects in both Birmingham and Manchester insha’Allah. Read more here: https://nzf.org.uk/OurWork/ShelterProjects
Take a look around
Although the building is now fully refurbished, this video (shot in June) gives you an idea of the nature of the project.
<br=””>57% of applications received by National Zakat Foundation relate to homelessness and the majority of our applicants are women. Iqbal Nasim, NZF’s Project Manager commented, “Our experience of working with vulnerable Muslim women tells us that faith-sensitive supported housing would have a substantial impact on their path to recovery and self-sufficiency.”
