Zaynab was trafficked to the UK for the purposes of domestic servitude and sexual exploitation, she was very scared and alone.
Forced to claim benefits by her traffickers, she was wrongfully imprisoned which made matters worse. As the single caretaker of her three children, Zaynab fell into deep depression and didn’t know where to go for help.

Zaynab was just 12 years old when she fell victim to modern slavery. Illegally trafficked to the UK, her perpetrators treated her like a servant and sexually exploited her. They also forced her to unlawfully claim benefits which resulted in her imprisonment when she turned 18 years old.
But that wasn’t all. Her arrest led to her three children losing their British passports which were taken away and nullified, leaving them with an uncertain future.
However, much to Zaynab’s relief, her time in prison was short-lived as the court found out she had been trafficked and subsequently released her.
But the trauma of years of abuse and mistreatment left Zaynab with deep emotional scars, making daily life very difficult for her. Unable to work due to poor physical and mental health, Zaynab had to rely on benefits to raise her three children.
As a single mother, it was always difficult for Zaynab to make ends meet, but the added cost of trying to restore her children’s British citizenship made her situation even more pressing.
Zaynab finally found relief came when heard about NZF. She immediately applied for support and received a grant from the Hardship Fund which helped her purchase much-needed essentials for her children.
