When Sofia was evicted from her flat in Glasgow, she was plunged into poverty overnight. She didn’t know what to do or where to go. With little money, she felt completely isolated. Your Zakat changed all that.
Sofia had moved to Glasgow with her husband, but two weeks after the painful separation her landlord evicted her without notice.
“For a while, I had no idea how to cope,” Sofia said. “I didn’t have anywhere to live. All I wanted was a safe place to stay.”
With her parents in Pakistan, she didn’t have close family nearby. She felt grateful to have some friends from work, and after some kind offers, she was able to sleep on sofas. But it wasn’t a long-term solution.
